A game in a supernatural post-apocalyptic world
Starry Studio has developed Once Human, a free action game in a bizarre post-apocalyptic world with an open-world survival gameplay experience. Although the game mainly focuses on multiplayer third-person survival shooting, it also incorporates features such as stealthy melee combat, puzzle-solving mechanics, and a complex narrative.
In Once Human, you are challenged to survive in a world inhabited by terrifying creatures from another dimension. Whether you play solo or team up with other players, the game will test your skills as you scavenge for resources, gather equipment, and arm yourself with powerful weapons to fend off the daunting sci-fi foes.
Deep compelling storyline
Once Human casts you as a protagonist, Meta-Human, someone who has adapted to the post-apocalyptic world following the cataclysmic event triggered by the mysterious alien force, Stardust. The contagion of Stardust has spread across the entirety of Earth, infecting all living things, from plants and water to people and animals. Consequently, those infected undergo a mutation, transforming into monstrous creatures.
To survive the challenges in this game, you must scavenge for resources and food and battle various monsters. When encountering both regular monsters and perilous bosses, it is crucial to exercise caution. This game has an extensive collection of weapons divided into seven categories you can acquire and craft. Furthermore, constructing a shelter is essential in this game to have a place to rest.
Combining elements of PVP and PVE, this game offers an immersive experience as you venture into its captivating world. Additionally, you can participate in grand-scale team battles to acquire valuable resources. In post-apocalyptic circumstances, possessing resources equates to holding complete authority. Keep in mind, though that the game requires a substantial amount of storage and RAM to deliver a high-quality audiovisual experience.
Open to all
Once Human has finally made its way past its Early Access stage and has officially launched in full for players all over the world to enjoy all of its features. After initial feedback that limited players to creating only one character per account, the developers have made necessary adjustments and have now granted players the ability to create multiple characters across servers. The game supports cross-platform play with a few exceptions and offers a seasonal system where each server hosts unique scenarios, impacting gameplay rules and storylines.
Players can transfer essential resources to their personal domain, Eternaland, at the end of each season. Regardless of the server chosen, players will encounter diverse environments and narratives, ensuring an immersive experience. Rewards remain consistent across both scenarios, allowing players to base their choice on their interest in PvP engagement. Additionally, the developers have addressed issues with missing server lists, so players across all regions can now find all the available servers they can enter.
The big Version 2.0 update
Version 2.0, also known as Dreamveil, launches with a new PvE scenario called Endless Dream. You'll explore an ever-shifting dreamscape, hunting an entity to awaken the world. This includes full map access and Dream Zones with stacking environmental effects you can purify. Your collective efforts in eliminating Eternal Dreamers will determine your character’s fate and the rest of the world as well.
The update also brings a public test for a class system, letting you try out several commoner roles like a chef, gardener, or beastmaster, each with unique abilities that resonate with the job. You can also dive into the Dreamland Fantasia event, offering various theme park activities and mini-games. These additions provide new ways to play and earn rewards in varied difficulties.
There’s also the RaidZone, available via early access, which brings new building options, letting you construct ladders, shutter doors, and iron mesh walls/floors for better reconnaissance. You can now place barricades directly in the wilderness. Disassembly benches in your territory are now limited, but new Advanced Disassembly Benches in the wild dismantle everything faster, which is a neat change for resource management.
Additionally, you'll be able to find new craftable revolvers and unique exploration-only weapons like the Compound Bow and more hidden within the game. Existing weapons and Deviations also see some balance adjustments, affecting how you approach combat. Plus, the usual various quality-of-life improvements, like optimized repair costs and better camera controls, aim to make your overall experience smoother and more enjoyable.
